Pinus radiata is an evergreen tree with a dense crown; it normally grows between 15 to 30 meters. The bole typically reaches between 30 to 90 cm in diameter. It's a tree of semi-arid, warm temperate zone of coastal southern California and is extensively cultivated in warm temperate zones and in tropical areas. It grows in South-western North America, from California to northern Mexico; and also in Oceania and South America. The seeds of all Pinus species can be eaten; they're of good size and make tasty and nutritious food. Oil of turpentine, obtained from the oleo-resin of all pine trees, is a valuable remedy; it's antiseptic, astringent, diuretic and vermifuge, it's also beneficial to the respiratory system and in the treatment of skin complaints. The wood is light to medium weight and it's extensively cultivated for timber; it's used for construction, furniture, packing cases, poles, and fiberboard; it's also suitable for flooring and interior trim. It's widely used for paper making and also for fuel. The tree is also grown as an ornamental and to provide shade and shelter. Planter likes: Although it is an exotic tree, it has been able to adapt very well in our planting sites. It grows fast, and it has a high survival rate.
